Association!
Our association came into existence in the year of 1872. That makes us one of the oldest Primitive Baptist Associations in the United States that is still in existence. The Sipsey River Primitive Baptist Association consists of 11 churches. They are located in Alabama and Michigan.
We hold fast to the Doctrine of Election by Grace and believe that God chose His people in Christ before the foundation of the World.
The Association is composed of members chosen by the different churches in our Union, who upon producing letters from their respective church, certifying their appointment, shall be entitled to seats.
The Association appoints a Moderator whose duties shall include seeing that the rules of decorum and the rules of the Association be attended to. The Association also appoints a Clerk whose duties consist of making proper and correct minutes of the proceedings of the Sipsey River Primitive Baptist Association. A Vice Moderator and Assistant Clerk is also appointed to assist the Moderator and Clerk in their duties.
Elder Rodney Byrd is currently the Moderator of the Original Sipsey River Association. Elder Clifford Head is currently serving as Vice Moderator. Brother Joseph Anders has faithfully served the Association as Clerk for many years. Our Assistant Clerk is Brother Jerome Head.
